While staying at Mierzęcin Palace, it is worth to visit the nearby Międzyrzecz Fortified Region. This unique system of underground fortifications stretches on the area of 100 kilometres and it was made in 30’ of the 20th century on the borderland between Poland and Germany.
Tourists eagerly visit this place also because it houses the largest reserve of bats in Europe. Every year roughly 30 thousand of these animals, which belong to 13 species, winter here.
